We run an ever increasing range of both adult and children’s Baking and Cooking Classes at the Mill and this year also sees the start of our Plough to Plate Experience Holidays.

 

We are very keen to share the information we are constantly discovering - and re-discovering - about both craft baking and the traditional technologies involved in flour production.

 

We normally run with groups of 12 to 15 people and the baking classes have been structured to accommodate all ages and levels of interest:

 

Children’s Make & Bake:

 

Every half term school holiday we run classes where children actually make bread from scratch to take home.

(Ages 5 to 13)

 

Family Baking:

 

Classes where the whole family can share a hands on experience together with groups of 3 or 4 families.

 

Beginners:

 

An excellent introduction to baking bread by hand including some basic science to help you understand the process - and you get to take your first loaf home!

 

Sourdough:

 

Bulk fermentation,

sponge and sourdough processes - as always very hands on with a loaf to take home.

 

Spelt:

 

An introduction to this very special wheat that takes you through the baking processes with your  loaf to take home.

 

Seasonal & Special:

 

From Christmas Stollen to Hot Cross Buns, from scone parties to rich fruit cakes - our bread and confectionary bakers have yet to be stumped!

 

Confectionary Baking:

 

New for 2011 a program of confectionary courses including cupcake decorating and traybakes.

 

Private courses:

 

We are always happy to arrange for private groups and parties for either days or evenings (minimum 10 people) and have recently had some very successful Hen parties!

 

We are happy to take provisional bookings over the phone or by email but your place is not secured until full payment is received  (credit or debit card payments can be made over the phone)

 

If your course is cancelled by us we will either refund the fee or transfer the place to another course of your choice. Unfortunately we are unable to refund any fee cancelled by you less than a week before the course date, however we will endeavour to transfer your booking if we are able.

Dates for next year’s Classes - be aware these are filling up very quickly! We will do our best to meet demand - we have already added another Beginners class in January - but if you don’t want to be disappointed, get booking!

Kids Cooking Academy places are filling up as well.

 

We have now had interest from some quite large organisations as well as local families, and there is every indication that this is going to quickly become over-subscribed.

 

We are determined to keep the groups to a maximum of ten so the children can get the most benefit and fun, so book now to make sure of getting a place.

 

Sundays 11.00 - 12.30 for six weeks £50 per place.
