Baking classes at the Mill.

 

We are very keen to share the information we are constantly discovering - and re-discovering - about both craft baking and the traditional technologies involved in flour production.

 

We normally run with groups of 12 to 15 people and the baking classes have been structured to accommodate all ages and levels of interest:

 

Children’s Make & Bake:

 

Every half term school holiday we run classes where children actually make bread from scratch and take home the loaf they have made. (Ages 5 to 13)

 

Family Baking:

 

Classes designed so that the whole family to share a hands on experience together with groups of 3 or 4 families.

 

Beginners:

 

This useful day course is an excellent introduction to

baking bread by hand and includes some basic science to help you understand the process and you get to take your first loaf home!

 

Sourdough:

 

This course takes you through the bulk fermentation,

sponge and sourdough processes.  As always very hands on with a loaf to take home.

 

Spelt:

 

This course will introduce you to this very special wheat and take you through the baking processes (and your  loaf to take home).

 

Seasonal & Special:

 

From Christmas Stollen to Hot Cross Buns, from scone parties to rich fruit cakes - our bread and confectionary bakers have yet to be stumped!

 

Private courses:

 

We are always happy to arrange for private groups and parties for either days or evenings (minimum 10 people) and have recently had some very successful Hen parties!

 

We are happy to take provisional bookings over the phone or by email but your place is not secured until full payment is received  (credit or debit card payments can be made over the phone)

 

If your course is cancelled by us we will either refund the fee or transfer the place to another course of your choice. Unfortunately we are unable to refund any fee cancelled by you less than a week before the course date, however we will endeavour to transfer your booking if we are able.
